The Ministry of Emergency Management reported that on September 5, a mudslide and landslide occurred in Shixia Group, Mingkeng Village, Gaoping Town, Suichuan County, Jiangxi Province. In response, the ministry immediately deployed rescue operations, calling for all-out efforts to search for trapped individuals, verify the exact numbers of casualties and missing persons, and dispatch nearby communication support and engineering rescue teams and equipment. The directive also emphasized organizing rescue personnel to reach the affected area as quickly as possible, strengthening hydrological and geological disaster monitoring and early warning, conducting scientific rescue operations, and strictly preventing secondary disasters.

The National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of Emergency Management have activated a Level IV national natural disaster relief response and a Level IV national geological disaster response. A working group has been dispatched to the site to guide rescue and disposal efforts, and a national安全生产 rescue team with an emergency survey unit, equipped with slope radar, has been sent to assist. Local fire departments have already deployed 41 vehicles and 224 personnel to the scene, while communication and reconnaissance drones have taken off to survey the area. Suichuan County has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to rising river levels, localized urban flooding, and submerged farmland (photo taken on September 2).

In accordance with the Ministry of Natural Resources' Geological Disaster Defense Response Work Plan, and considering the suspected mudslide incident in Ji'an, Jiangxi, the ministry upgraded the geological disaster defense response level in Jiangxi from IV to III at 11:00 AM on September 5. A team led by a department-level official has been dispatched to the site to enhance guidance for rescue and relief operations. The Ministry of Natural Resources has requested that the expert working group previously sent by the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Natural Resources assist local authorities with technical support during personnel searches and rescue efforts. Furthermore, they are urged to draw lessons from this event, conduct thorough inspections, monitoring, early warnings, and preventive measures for similar geological hazards, and enhance coordination with the China Geological Survey and the ministry's technical guidance center for expert deployment, organization, and consultation.

According to the Suichuan County Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, due to continuous heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon "Saudel," the mudslide occurred at approximately 4:00 AM on September 5. It damaged 12 houses in Shixia Group, completely destroying 8 and partially damaging 4. So far, 3 people have been rescued (2 in good health, 1 deceased), with 11 others still missing.
