Customs clearance authorities have officially sanctioned the establishment of four specialized supervisory sites at Shijiazhuang Airport, designated for imported fruits, chilled aquatic products, live aquatic animals, and meat. This approval comes as a formal response from the General Administration of Customs, marking a milestone as the first time the Shijiazhuang aviation port has set up such facilities tailored for fresh and perishable goods.
The new designations are set to elevate the port's operational capabilities, a move that carries considerable weight in enhancing the infrastructure of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei world-class airport cluster and in supporting the region's outward-oriented economic development. These specified supervisory sites, as defined, are operational zones that meet stringent requirements for animal and plant epidemic prevention and customs supervision, intended for the inspection, quarantine, and testing of high-risk imported animals, plants, and their derived products.
With the establishment of the four supervisory sites, the airport will gain the direct capacity to manage the entry of fresh products, eliminating the need for transshipment through other ports. This development promises to significantly shorten logistics chains, reduce distribution costs for businesses, and simultaneously boost the utilization of belly cargo space on international passenger flights while enhancing the overall cargo transport capability. Consequently, it is expected to fully unlock the airport's air freight potential.
Currently, the airport is actively pushing forward with project tendering and construction phases. Once the construction is fully completed and the facilities pass the rigorous inspections of the General Administration of Customs, products such as imported fruits, chilled aquatic products, live aquatic animals, and meat will be able to enter the country directly through Shijiazhuang Airport, potentially facilitating same-day delivery to ensure remarkably fresh produce reaches consumers.
As a pivotal component of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei airport cluster, Shijiazhuang Airport has already launched several international cargo routes linking to destinations such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Dubai. Leveraging the newly approved supervisory sites, the airport intends to capitalize on the combined policy advantages stemming from the Hebei Pilot Free Trade Zone's Zhengding Area, the comprehensive bonded zone, and the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone. These efforts aim to continuously optimize and expand the network of international cargo flights, advance the integrated development of the port and the bonded area, and activate new drivers for the region's open economy.
