Fuel Prices Set to Rise as National Regulators Adjust Oil Product Pricing

Following the adjustment of domestic refined oil prices on August 28, tensions in the Middle East have escalated once more, driving a sustained surge in international crude oil prices. The renewed conflict between the U.S. and Iran has led to an abnormal spike in oil prices from the region, prompting authorities to step in.

To cushion the domestic economy and social livelihoods from the impact of rising global oil costs, temporary controls will be implemented on refined oil prices while maintaining the existing pricing framework. Based on current mechanisms, standard gasoline and diesel prices were calculated to rise by 435 yuan and 420 yuan per ton respectively on September 11. However, after adjustments, the actual increases will be capped at 260 yuan per ton for gasoline and 250 yuan per ton for diesel.

The National Development and Reform Commission will guide production and distribution enterprises to ensure ample supply and smooth logistics of refined oil products. In coordination with regulatory bodies, intensified market supervision will be carried out to crack down on violations such as failure to comply with national pricing policies, thereby safeguarding market order and protecting consumer interests.
