An industry insider report on September 1 revealed that Tu Yiting, the Assistant General Manager of Shanghai Shenyin Wanguo Securities Research Institute Co., Ltd. (referred to as SWS Research), is set to be promoted to Deputy General Manager of the company.

Once this promotion takes effect, the executive team at SWS Research will adopt a configuration of "one General Manager and three Deputy General Managers." Under General Manager Wang Sheng, the three Deputy General Managers will be Zhao Wei, Liu Yang, and Tu Yiting.

Tu Yiting, born after 1985, earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Finance from the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University. She joined SWS Research right after graduating in 2010 and has spent the past 16 years dedicated to the paper and light manufacturing sectors.

This promotion marks both a milestone in her career path and another example of the research institute's recent implementation of a strategy to rejuvenate its leadership with younger talent.

From Tsinghua Graduate to 'Platinum Analyst'

After completing her master's degree from Tsinghua SEM, Tu Yiting joined the Shenyin Wanguo Research Institute in July 2010. She registered as an analyst with the Securities Association of China in 2012, and has remained within this system ever since.

Over the sixteen years, she has consistently focused on research in the paper and light manufacturing industries. Her team tracks listed companies across home furnishings, light manufacturing consumer goods, IP trendy toys, cross-border e-commerce, and AI eyewear, delving deep into industry chain structures and fundamentals.

Professional accolades have continued to accumulate. In 2024, Tu Yiting was named a New Fortune "Platinum Analyst." That same year, her team clinched the "Best Industry Analyst Team" award at the 15th Securities Analysts Golden Bull Awards. In 2025, SWS Research's light manufacturing and paper team again secured third place in the sell-side analysts' Crystal Ball Awards.

Her ability to spot new consumption trends is also forward-looking. As early as the start of 2025, she had publicly expressed optimism about the growth potential in areas such as AI eyewear, the ice and snow economy, and the "Guzi" (merchandise) economy.

In December 2024, Tu Yiting was promoted from her role as head of the Manufacturing Research Department and Chief Analyst for light manufacturing and paper to Assistant General Manager of the research institute, responsible for equity research. Now, she advances once again to Deputy General Manager, less than two years after her last position adjustment.

Transformation and Performance of a Veteran Research House

Founded in 1992, SWS Research is a comprehensive securities research institution under SWS Securities, being one of the earliest established and larger-scale operations in mainland China, with a research service team exceeding 300 people.

Focusing on over a thousand key listed companies at home and abroad, its research covers comprehensive fields such as macroeconomic analysis, industry and company studies, equity, bond and derivative strategies, as well as index and product design. The institute emphasizes "generating ideas and building systems," with a dream of cultivating a "century-old team."

Its clients include major domestic fund management companies, insurance and insurance asset management institutions, commercial banks, trusts, financial companies, private equity asset managers, as well as overseas institutions including QFII and those from North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Since 2019, the research institute has kept pace with its parent company's transformation, adopting a model of "research as a platform, combined business development." This has pushed its revenue model from a single source of sub-brokerage commissions to a mix of commissions, consulting, and comprehensive income.

The transformation benefits are becoming evident, with a continuously optimized income structure. In the first half of 2026, SWS Securities generated sub-brokerage commission income of RMB 338 million, a year-on-year increase of 121.25%.

SWS Securities stated in its semi-annual report that in the second half of the year, the research institute will further strengthen its "investment research + industry research + policy research" system, deepen its layout in frontier fields like AI, and build core competitiveness through professional capability and differentiated services.

'Post-80s Generation' Backbone of Leadership, Talent Strategy at Veteran Firm

Over the past three years, the leadership succession at this veteran research institute has accelerated noticeably, with roles almost exclusively filled by individuals born in the 1980s and 1985s.

In December 2023, Liu Yang, a "post-80s" chief computer analyst, joined the management team as Assistant General Manager before being promoted to Deputy General Manager. In July 2024, Zhao Wei, a "post-80s" chief economist, assumed the role of Deputy General Manager. In May 2025, Wang Sheng, a "post-80s" chief strategy analyst, was appointed General Manager of SWS Research.

Operating on a dual-track system of "internal cultivation and external recruitment," the research institute is accelerating the selection of reserve cadres and dynamically managing its reserve talent pool to stockpile young talent for both its parent company and itself. The average age of the reserve cadre team has been decreasing year by year, demonstrating the effectiveness of SWS Research in nurturing young leaders.
