Official data unveiled on September 7 by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange indicates that China's foreign exchange reserve stockpile totaled $3.4383 trillion as of the end of August 2026. This represents a rise of $19.5 billion, or a growth rate of 0.57%, compared to the level recorded at the conclusion of July.
A spokesperson from the administration attributed the monthly increase to a combination of factors, including a decline in the US dollar index and divergent performances among major global financial assets during August. The combined effects of currency translation adjustments and fluctuations in asset prices contributed to the expansion of the reserve base during the period.
Despite external complexities, China's economy continues to operate with overall stability, demonstrating steady progress, remarkable resilience, and vitality. These fundamental strengths provide solid backing for maintaining the foreign exchange reserve scale at a broadly stable level over time.
