In Jiangxi's Nankang district, located in Ganzhou city, the low-altitude economy is taking flight with remarkable momentum, serving as a modern testament to the region's enduring spirit of the Long March. As the 90th anniversary of that historic feat approaches, local authorities are channeling energy into developing advanced airspace industries.
At the Ganzhou Low-Altitude Economy Industrial Park, visitors recently witnessed a striking showcase of technological progress. Inside wind tunnel laboratories, drones roared through controlled airflow tests to validate their performance, while in standardized workshops, various unmanned aerial vehicles were methodically assembled and lined up in neat formation. This bustling scene unfolded before a delegation of journalists retracing the Long March route to observe how this revolutionary old district is seizing opportunities in the low-altitude sector.
Zhang Xiaolong, deputy general manager of Nankang's Xingkang UAV Industry Development Group, explained that with policy support from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the district has constructed the industrial park to high standards. The facility features a flight testing base built to general aviation airport specifications, complete with runways, hangars, standard workshops, and a low-altitude supervision platform capable of accommodating various aircraft types, including composite-wing fixed-wing UAVs, large and medium-sized long-endurance drones, and light sport aircraft.
Beyond the infrastructure, the park has also established a comprehensive UAV airworthiness testing laboratory and two jet-flow wind tunnel laboratories, enabling multi-system module testing for drone airframes, batteries, avionics, and propulsion systems. Zhang noted that these完备 facilities and supporting services have attracted enterprises from across the low-altitude economy supply chain. Currently, 34 companies are clustered in the park, spanning research and design, manufacturing, application services, science education, and talent training.
Among the park's standout innovators is Fengyi Technology, which showcased its self-developed drone series. Zhu Fanqi, the company's airworthiness compliance director, stated that they have engineered multiple drone products adaptable to diverse scenarios including logistics delivery, emergency rescue, and medical supply transport. The firm remains focused on scenario-driven research, anchoring its strategy in cross-regional low-altitude logistics.
The impact of this technology extends far beyond the industrial park. In Baiheling, a mountainous area of Nankang's Longmu township dozens of kilometers away, drones are transforming rural life. The area's high altitude and winding mountain roads once left premium local agricultural products stranded in the hills, unable to reach markets efficiently. That changed in June 2025 when Jiangxi province's first "drone + high-speed rail" cross-city transport route began operations here, dramatically shortening the journey from mountain farm to consumer table.
Liu Jialiang, coordinator of Longmu's shared high-mountain farm initiative, expressed relief that drones now ensure goods can be dispatched promptly, eliminating the long-standing logistical bottleneck. With standardized takeoff and landing points established across farms, and intelligent navigation systems guiding the flights, transport time for agricultural products from mountain farms to distribution centers has collapsed from two hours to just ten minutes.
The low-altitude economy is also taking flight in the leisure and tourism sector. The Bugu Village National Aviation Flight Camp in Longhui town leverages its exceptional terrain and weather conditions to develop paragliding and other low-altitude sports, alongside countryside homestays, camping grounds, and wellness centers. Zhang Xiaolong believes such sports will cultivate consumer markets and broaden industrial applications.
Looking ahead, Zhang outlined the park's future strategy: guided by industry chain mapping, the park will conduct targeted investment attraction to avoid homogenized competition, strengthen weak links and gaps in the supply chain, and continuously perfect the complete low-altitude economy industrial ecosystem.
