This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Long March of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. On September 9th, a press tour retracing the Long March route visited Ruijin Airport, a symbolic journey from the "Red Capital" to the national capital. From the sandy airstrip of the Soviet area era to the modern Ganzhou Ruijin Airport of today, this red soil has completed a near-century-long "aviation relay".

A local traveler from Ganzhou noted the dramatic improvement in connectivity, stating that before, a train trip to Shanghai took twenty-five or twenty-six hours, but now it takes just two to three hours by air, making everything much more convenient.

After 13 years of preparation and construction, Ganzhou Ruijin Airport officially opened on September 28, 2025. This 4C-class regional airport, built with a total investment of 1.72 billion yuan and designed for an annual passenger throughput of 550,000, features a 2,600-meter runway, eight aircraft stands, and a 7,637-square-meter terminal building. It is set to greatly facilitate travel for the 6.8 million people in the old revolutionary base areas across three regions in Jiangxi and Fujian provinces.

Zhang Yu, deputy general manager of the Ruijin Airport Branch of Jiangxi Airport Group Co., Ltd., highlighted the airport's early success. He mentioned that flights are currently operating to six cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zunyi, Nanjing, and Chengdu. Since beginning operations last year, within less than a year, Ruijin Airport has already surpassed 190,000 passengers in total throughput.
