At the Polymer Intelligent Industry Development Conference (2026), hosted by the Polymer Intelligent Industry Innovation Center and Hubei Science and Technology Investment in Wuhan's Optics Valley on September 9, Chen Yidong, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Zhaowei Machinery & Electronics Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Zhaowei Dexterous Hands, noted that the dexterous hands sector has experienced a pace of iteration comparable to the automotive industry over the past three years, accompanied by substantial capital investment.

He emphasized that when selecting a dexterous hand, users primarily evaluate several critical dimensions: tactile sensing capabilities, power supply range, communication protocols, degrees of freedom, and reliability. These factors serve as essential criteria in the decision-making process.

He further elaborated on the engineering and technical challenges involved in developing a highly dexterous and reliable hand. First, achieving drive-sensing integration requires the hand to possess comprehensive perception abilities, including monitoring joint positions, velocities, currents, and torques. Second, accommodating 21 motors within such a confined space demands exceptionally precise motor control. Third, the transition to iron-core motors in the finger joints, implementing a full linear solution, introduces vibration issues that necessitate angular error compensation over each rotation to ensure stable system operation.

"The company's vision is to utilize our own dexterous hands on the production line to assemble our own products," he stated.
