On September 9th, a pivotal meeting took place at the headquarters of Bank of China, where its Party Secretary and Chairman, Ge Haijiao, engaged in substantive discussions with Xu Dachun, a member of the Party Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources, who also serves as the Party Secretary and Director of the China Geological Survey. The primary outcome of this high-level dialogue was the official signing of a cooperation memorandum, marking a significant step forward in their collaborative efforts. This event underscores a mutual commitment to strengthen the nation's resource security framework through enhanced banking and government synergy.

During the meeting, Ge Haijiao praised the China Geological Survey as a leading force in executing the nation's fundamental, public-interest, and strategic geological and mineral exploration missions. He highlighted the long-standing and close partnership between Bank of China and the geological authority, characterized by extensive and deep-rooted cooperation across various sectors, including promoting high-quality development in the mining industry, ensuring the security of mineral resources, and constructing a robust mining financial ecosystem. He noted that the nation's upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan places explicit demands on solidifying the foundational safeguards for national security.

He articulated that this new agreement marks a pivotal moment for Bank of China to elevate its commitment, intensify its efforts, and implement more concrete measures to collaborate with the China Geological Survey in building a national resource security shield and fostering a green transformation in the mining sector. The bank aims to bolster cooperation in key strategic areas, such as advancing a new round of strategic breakthroughs in mineral exploration, supporting overseas mineral resource exploration and development, and enhancing exploration equipment and technological innovation, thereby contributing sustainable and significant support to national resource security.

Addressing a recent concern, Ge Haijiao acknowledged the mudslide disaster in Jilong County, Shigatse, Tibet, which has drawn national attention. He confirmed that while the China Geological Survey swiftly deployed to the site for emergency response, Bank of China has also taken immediate actions to ensure uninterrupted financial services for disaster relief. The bank is closely monitoring the recovery progress and is prepared to deliver comprehensive financial service guarantees to support the affected regions.

Xu Dachun echoed this sentiment, characterizing both the China Geological Survey and the Bank of China as important forces serving the national strategy. He pointed out that by leveraging their respective functional advantages, the two entities have engaged in long-term, multi-level, and comprehensive cooperation. This partnership has already produced fruitful results in areas such as mining financial research, support for mineral exploration projects, and cross-border mining services, establishing a benchmark model that deeply integrates geological technology innovation with financial empowerment.

Vice Minister Xu emphasized that the signing of this memorandum is a key initiative to deepen their cooperative relationship. Looking ahead, he hopes that both parties will align with national strategic needs and continuously broaden their collaboration scope. The goal is to empower each other and progress collaboratively in serving the national strategy, writing a new chapter in the integrated development of geological resources and financial innovation.
