Shares of CHINA TRAVEL HK (00308) jumped more than 5% during intraday trading before paring gains, with the stock last up 3.03% at HK$1.19, on turnover of HK$25.31 million. The rally follows the company's release of its interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, which showed a swing back to profitability.
The group reported revenue of HK$2.056 billion for the period, an increase of 12.56% year-on-year. Profit attributable to equity holders reached HK$112 million, reversing a loss recorded in the same period last year. Basic earnings per share stood at 2.02 HK cents.
According to the announcement, the first half of 2026 saw a boost in overall revenue compared to the prior year, driven by two key factors: the completion of a distribution-in-specie in the second half of 2025 that carved out the loss-making tourism property segment, and the acquisition of Songhu Lake Company and CTS Snow Company, which contributed new revenue growth points.
Revenue from the group's continuing operations in tourism attractions and related businesses totaled HK$989 million in the first half of 2026, marking a 37% increase from the same period last year. Profit attributable to this segment rose to HK$108 million, up from HK$22 million in the corresponding period of the prior year.
