A major AI computing infrastructure project is slated for Fuyang, with a total investment of 914 million yuan. The Fuyang Municipal Development and Reform Commission has recently approved the energy conservation report for the Jike Technology-Baidu East China Elastic Computing Center project, marking a new phase for this new infrastructure initiative.

The project will involve leasing an existing industrial site owned by Guozhen Meijie (Anhui) Biomass Thermal Power Co., Ltd. in the Fuyang Economic Development Zone. Plans include deploying eight 40-foot containers with a total server power capacity of 2880kW, ultimately establishing a production scale of 1,152 standard server racks.

In terms of energy consumption, the project is expected to use approximately 29.66 million kWh of electricity annually, translating to a comprehensive annual energy consumption of 3,645.44 tonnes of coal equivalent (tce) on an equivalent value basis and 8,650.58 tce on an equal value basis. The facility's Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is projected at 1.18, with a unit value-added energy consumption of 0.414 tce per 10,000 yuan (at comparable prices).

So, what exactly is a computing power center? It is an infrastructure facility dedicated to providing centralized computing capabilities, essential for tasks such as AI model training and inference, big data analytics, and scientific computing. These centers are typically categorized into several types, including intelligent computing centers focused on AI workloads, general-purpose computing centers for standard processing, and high-performance computing centers for complex simulations.
