Temporary Fuel Price Adjustments Announced: Here's What Changes From Tonight

Following the domestic refined oil price adjustment on August 28, escalating US-Iran tensions have driven international crude prices sharply higher, with an abnormal surge particularly evident in Middle East oil prices. To cushion the domestic impact of rising global oil costs and ensure economic stability and social welfare, temporary control measures on domestic refined oil prices are being introduced while maintaining the current pricing mechanism framework.

Calculated under the existing pricing system, gasoline and diesel (standard grade) prices were due for an increase of 435 yuan and 420 yuan per tonne respectively on September 11. After regulatory adjustments, the actual increases are set at 260 yuan and 250 yuan per tonne.

The National Development and Reform Commission will direct refined oil producers and distributors to maximize output and logistics, guaranteeing steady market supply. It will also coordinate with relevant authorities to strengthen market supervision, cracking down on illegal practices such as failure to comply with national pricing policies, thereby safeguarding market order and consumer interests.

Under the current refined oil pricing mechanism, local gasoline and diesel prices will be adjusted upwards from tomorrow. The maximum retail prices for 92-octane gasoline and 0-diesel will rise by 0.2 yuan and 0.21 yuan per liter, respectively.

Following the adjustment, the ceiling retail prices by zone are as follows: in the Xi'an market, 92-octane gasoline stands at 10,897 yuan per tonne (8.17 yuan/liter), a level applied across the central and northern pricing zones, while the southern Shaanxi zone sees 11,003 yuan per tonne (8.25 yuan/liter). For 0-diesel, the Xi'an urban area is set at 9,245 yuan per tonne (7.86 yuan/liter), with other regional markets across the province at 9,445 yuan per tonne (8.03 yuan/liter).

Retail operators may set their specific selling prices independently, provided they do not exceed the maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel.
