E-House (China) Enterprise Holdings Limited (“E-House (China)”) has filed a voluntary petition under Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The submission, made on 8 September 2026 (ET) by duly authorised foreign representative Alexander Lawson, seeks: 1) recognition of the Cayman Islands restructuring process as a foreign main proceeding under Section 1517; 2) recognition of the foreign representative; and 3) enforcement of the Cayman Scheme in the United States alongside related relief under Section 1520.

The Chapter 15 filing aligns with the company’s broader offshore debt restructuring strategy, which includes parallel schemes of arrangement in the Cayman Islands (Cayman Scheme) and Hong Kong (HK Scheme). According to the announcement, E-House (China) intends to continue operating as a going concern after the Schemes are consummated, and reports that current business operations remain normal.

The court will schedule a hearing to consider the requested relief; details will be announced in due course. Under Section 1525 of the Bankruptcy Code, the court may directly communicate with the Cayman Court or the foreign representative as needed.

All documents related to the Chapter 15 case, including the verified petition, are available via the court’s electronic docket (PACER) and the dedicated restructuring website (https://restructuring.ra.kroll.com/EHouse2026). Scheme creditors seeking assistance can contact D.F. King Ltd. or Alvarez & Marsal Cayman Islands, while blocked scheme creditors and convertible bond holders should reach out to the company directly.

E-House (China) will provide further updates on material developments regarding the offshore debt restructuring. The board advises shareholders and investors to exercise caution when dealing in the company’s securities.
