On September 10, in accordance with the unified deployment by the Office of the National Quality Power Building Coordination and Promotion Leading Group and the State Administration for Market Regulation, the nationwide synchronized destruction campaign for counterfeit and shoddy goods in 2026 was launched. Gansu Province, designated as one of 25 sub-venues nationwide, initiated its operations simultaneously with the main venue in Changsha via video link. Lanzhou, Baiyin, Dingxi, and Linxia participated in the provincial sub-venue events, while eight additional locations—Jinchang, Jiuquan, Zhangye, Pingliang, Qingyang, Longnan, Gannan, and Lanzhou New Area—carried out synchronized destruction activities concurrently.

Representatives from key provincial departments, including the Provincial Publicity Department, the Provincial High Court, the Provincial Procuratorate, the Provincial Public Security Department, the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Lanzhou Customs, the Provincial Drug Administration, and the Lanzhou Municipal Market Supervision Administration, attended the event. Together, they were joined by over 140 enforcement officers from public security, ecology and environment, agriculture, culture and tourism, market regulation, and customs agencies.

During the ceremony, a promotional video highlighting Gansu's intellectual property protection efforts played on the main screen, which then switched to the main venue in Changsha. The Gansu sub-venue synchronized its participation with the overall destruction ceremony conducted by the State Administration. Following the main venue's instructions, the Gansu sub-venue reported in: "Report: Gansu venue, ready." The person making the report stood upright and faced the camera directly. After all venues submitted their readiness reports, the main venue announced the start of the destruction operation and activated the destruction equipment. The screen then switched to the municipal venues to oversee the province-wide unified destruction activities.

Once the national command was issued, Gansu Province's unified destruction action commenced immediately. The host from the Provincial Market Supervision Administration coordinated the provincial effort, with the eight venues—Jinchang, Jiuquan, Zhangye, Pingliang, Qingyang, Longnan, Gannan, and Lanzhou New Area—each reporting their on-site readiness in sequence via video. As the feed switched from one venue to the next, each reporting officer confirmed "Venue ready," and the provincial host acknowledged each with "Received." After all eight venues had reported in, the provincial host announced: "The 2026 national unified destruction campaign, Gansu sub-venue destruction operation, now begins!" Subsequently, the sub-venue ceremony concluded, and the broadcast transitioned to the destruction sites across the cities and prefectures for their ongoing routine destruction work.

At the sorting center, following the destruction directive, forklifts moved rapidly, transporting sealed boxes of counterfeit and expired frozen seafood, beverages, plastic-aluminum pipes, food products, and other items to the destruction zones. As the forklift arms rose and fell, batches of fake and substandard goods were fed into the destruction equipment. The operation employed safe and environmentally sound methods to prevent secondary pollution.

The goods destroyed across the province spanned over twenty major categories, including food and pharmaceuticals, clothing and footwear, tobacco and alcohol, agricultural supplies and fertilizers, medical devices, wires and cables, gas stoves, and measuring instruments. The total weight reached 49 tons, with a value of 2.4 million yuan. This concentrated effort to destroy counterfeit goods underscores a firm commitment to protecting intellectual property rights, upholding fair competition, and safeguarding consumer safety.

Since the start of this year, under the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, all regions and departments have worked in unison and coordinated governance, achieving new progress in combating counterfeiting and infringement. Gansu has introduced its first comprehensive local regulation in the intellectual property field, the "Gansu Province Regulations on the Use and Protection of Intellectual Property," and has methodically advanced the formulation of the "15th Five-Year Plan" for IP protection and application. Furthermore, the Provincial Market Supervision Administration signed a cooperation framework agreement with four other departments to strengthen IP protection in emerging fields and signed a cross-regional law enforcement cooperation memorandum with Qinghai Province.

Province-wide, coordinated campaigns such as "Iron Fist," "Kunlun," "Agricultural Materials Counterfeit Crackdown," and "Guardian of Intellectual Property" have been executed. The market supervision system across the province has investigated and handled 664 cases involving various types of infringement and counterfeiting, with fines and confiscations totaling 4.68 million yuan, leading to a continuous purification of the market environment.

This year marks the initial year of the "15th Five-Year Plan" and a pivotal period for advancing the province's efforts to build a strong intellectual property province. The province will persistently strengthen IP protection, maintain a high-pressure stance against counterfeiting and infringement, refine a full-chain governance system, and optimize a market-oriented, law-based business environment, thereby providing robust support for the province's high-quality development. Taking this national unified destruction campaign as a turning point, Gansu will continue to deepen cross-departmental and cross-regional collaboration, shifting from campaign-style crackdowns to routine, long-term efforts, ensuring counterfeit goods have no place to hide and the public can shop with confidence and use products with peace of mind.
