On September 9th, the silage planting base of Beidahuang Group's 8511 Farm was filled with the roar of machinery. Seizing the recent stretch of clear weather, various pasture operations were racing against time to commence the full-scale harvest of silage corn across the fields.

Large silage harvesters shuttled back and forth, instantly chopping the entire corn plants and loading them onto transport vehicles, working intensively to secure the "meals" for all 28,000 dairy cows on the farm. At the foot of Wandashan Mountain, the 58,600 mu of silage corn fields at 8511 Farm began concentrated harvesting, closely monitoring the "double 30%" indicators for starch and dry matter content. The harvested whole-plant corn serves as a "nutritious golden meal" for the dairy herd.

This year, the 58,600 mu of silage corn at the farm are expected to yield an average of 3.5 tons per mu, all of which will be supplied to the pastures within its jurisdiction. Due to the constraints of a short frost-free period in the cold region, the window for silage harvesting is extremely tight. The farm strictly adheres to the "double 30%" standard for starch and dry matter, initiating concentrated harvesting only when these indicators are met, thereby maximizing the preservation of forage nutrition.

Agricultural machinery operates day and night to expedite the harvest, cutting over 5,000 mu of silage corn per day at peak times, producing nearly 15,000 tons of raw material. The chopped stalks are swiftly transported to the silage pits, where they are layered and repeatedly compacted by heavy machinery. The compaction density in the pit reaches 0.85 tons per cubic meter, surpassing the national standard of 0.75 tons per cubic meter.

After strict sealing and 45 days of anaerobic fermentation, the silage, resembling a "grass canned food" with its yellow-green color and rich, fragrant sour aroma, is ready. This process ensures a stable and high-quality feed supply for all 28,000 dairy cows throughout the year. 8511 Farm will continue to focus on this critical autumn harvest period, strictly managing the quality of silage storage and operational safety, to empower the high-quality development of the farm's animal husbandry sector.
