On September 8, a train carrying a full load of imported iron ore departed from the Yang'erzhuang Park Station on the Canggang Railway, traveling via the Canggang-Shuohuang rail link onto the Shuohuang line. From there, it switched at Xibaipo onto the Hebei Jiantou Railway, then continued through the Taizhongyin line to reach the steel industry hub in Ningxia. This marks the launch of another dedicated sea-rail intermodal route connecting Huanghua Port to the vast northwestern inland region, delivering a fresh logistics pathway for iron ore discharge and transport from the port.
Previously, cargo shipments from Huanghua Port to the Ningxia area were typically routed through the Beijing-Guangzhou and Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan railways, resulting in excessive detours, complex transfer points, and extended transit times that struggled to reliably supply raw materials to metallurgical and alloy producers in the northwest. To strengthen Huanghua Port's collection and distribution network and precisely serve the steel and alloy sectors in Ningxia, Canggang Railway Co., Ltd. has teamed up with China Energy Railway Equipment, China Energy Shuohuang Railway, Hebei Jiantou Railway, and China State Railway Group. The collaboration has fine-tuned every step of the logistics chain for this corridor, including cargo handling, transfer coordination, and dispatch scheduling, to ensure efficient, stable, and seamless operations.
This new route leverages the connectivity between Canggang Railway and the Shuohuang line, capitalizing on the latter's westward return capacity to unite the China Energy rail network with the national railway grid. It effectively establishes a major sea-rail artery linking Huanghua Port with the northwestern hinterland. The launch of this corridor is expected to further unlock Canggang Railway's transport potential and reinforce its role as a key hub connecting Huanghua Port to national trunk lines. Additionally, it will enhance logistics exchanges between the port and western inland regions, advancing the shift of bulk cargo from road to rail for greener transport and helping to lower logistics costs for mining and industrial enterprises across the northwest.
