Shortly thereafter, Microsoft's Xbox division announced an expansion of its partnership with Kojima Productions to encompass PHYSINT.

In response, game creator Hideo Kojima released a statement revealing the internal details behind the breakdown with Sony on PHYSINT, noting a sudden cancellation notice from Sony this June. PlayStation also expressed continued admiration for Kojima's vision for the game, emphasizing that after three decades of industry-leading, genre-defining creative cooperation, their relationship remains strong.

PlayStation stated, "We continue to hold immense respect for Kojima's vision for this title. After thirty years of pioneering and genre-defining collaborations, our bond endures, and we look forward to maintaining close ties with Kojima and his award-winning independent studio in the future."
