Volunteers from the town's publicity, comprehensive governance, and new-era civilization practice teams have been dispatched to village courtyards across communities to deliver cybersecurity-themed presentations, bringing essential knowledge directly to residents' homes.
As night falls, courtyards light up with a welcoming glow. Town and village officials, along with party member representatives, sit side by side with villagers on benches, initiating discussions through casual conversation about daily life and local matters. Targeting key groups such as elderly residents, families left behind, and rural e-commerce farmers, the speakers drew on real cases from the area and its surroundings. Using accessible local dialect, they focused on high-prevalence rural online threats, including pension-related telecom fraud, AI-generated fake videos, online job scams, counterfeit agricultural supply ads, personal data leaks, and internet rumors. Residents were urged never to disclose bank card details or verification codes, avoid clicking unknown links, distrust online schemes promising high returns, and consult village officials or family members whenever encountering suspicious information.
At the events, staff distributed cybersecurity awareness brochures and provided hands-on guidance for installing and using the National Anti-Fraud Center app, answering questions on the spot. Additionally, referencing recent public opinion cases online, they encouraged villagers to browse the internet rationally, refrain from believing or spreading rumors, and avoid sharing unverified short videos or gossip. This, they explained, helps curb the spread of misinformation and prevents secondary harm to those involved.
"During the day, we're busy with farm work and have no time. In the evening, we sit together to listen to the explanations—the cases are clear, and the protective measures we learn are practical," remarked a villager who attended the session.
In recent years, Lashu Town has consistently utilized grassroots governance mechanisms like "Evening Village Talks" and the "Three-Person Team" to integrate policy advocacy, safety construction, and cyber civilization into courtyard discussions. This approach shifts communication from podium-style lectures to intimate, seated conversations, bridging the final meter of outreach services. Moving forward, the town plans to continue regular cybersecurity campaigns reaching into villages and households, enriching the content of these sessions and strengthening the rural cybersecurity safety net.
