Taiwan has proposed funding of more than $13 billion for its state-run energy companies to secure LNG supplies and protect electricity users when a price freeze expires at the end of September, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

The cabinet has finalized a supplementary budget which includes a NT$234 billion capital injection and additional subsidies of around NT$100 billion, the report said.

The package is designed to help offset rising fuel costs due to the war in the Middle East, the report noted.
