MiniMed Type 2 Diabetes Patient Retention Holding Steady, UBS Says

MiniMed's (MMED) diabetes business is showing no meaningful attrition among Type 2 patients, with retention improving across both Type 1 and Type 2 cohorts, UBS said in a note Wednesday.

The company delivered a solid Q1 and also well-positioned for fiscal 2027 with several product launches underway, the firm said.

The bank said roughly 40% of new US pump starts continue to come from Type 2 patients, a trend it attributed to features favored by higher insulin-use patients, including the 300-unit reservoir and 7-day wear on the company's Flex and Fit devices.

The company is transitioning from a pump-only provider to a broader diabetes ecosystem spanning pumps, sensors, smart pens, software and automation, UBS said, pointing to fiscal 2027 as a major product cycle with Flex now shipping, Go continuing to ramp, and Fit and Vivera set to launch during the year.

UBS reiterated a buy rating on the stock and raised its price target to $28 from $25.
