American Eagle Stock Tanks After Q2 Print — What to Know

American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (NYSE:AEO) posted its fiscal 2027 second-quarter results after Wednesday’s closing bell, beating estimates on the top and bottom lines, due in part to a large tariff refund. Here’s a look at the details inside the report.

American Eagle Q2 Details       

American Eagle Outfitters reported quarterly earnings of 79 cents per share, which beat the consensus estimate of 21 cents, per Benzinga Pro data. 

Quarterly revenue of $1.38 billion came in just above the analyst estimate of $1.37 billion. Consolidated inventory at cost was up 14%, with units up 9%. Total comparable sales were up 6%, and Aerie and OFFLINE total revenue grew 25%.

The company reported tariff refunds of $196 million with a net operating income contribution of $161 million for the second quarter of 2026.

“The second quarter reflects the value of our AEO Inc. portfolio, led by the broad-based momentum of Aerie and OFFLINE, alongside encouraging progress at American Eagle,” said Jay Schottenstein, CEO of AEO, Inc.

Looking Ahead

American Eagle Outfitters expects third-quarter and fiscal-year comparable sales to grow by mid-single digits.
