Lee Greenwood GOP Anthem Mentions More Blue States and Cities than Red

Lee Greenwood appeared on both nights of the Republican convention in Dallas, singing his "God Bless the U.S.A." The patriotic song has become something of an anthem for Republican gatherings, including those featuring President Trump.

A close listen reveals it names more Democratic-leaning cities and states than Republican ones. The portion of the tune that lists multiple locations in a series starts with "from the lakes of Minnesota," a blue state that has been a frequent Trump target, before continuing on with Tennessee (red), Texas (red), Detroit (blue), Houston (blue), New York (blue) and L.A. (blue). That's two red and five blue.
