Coinbase Global (COIN) is positioning stablecoin payments as a key pillar of its future revenue strategy as it seeks to reduce its dependence on trading, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing an interview with CEO Brian Armstrong.

The US cryptocurrency exchange is working with banks, fintech firms and other companies to move more payment activity into stablecoins, a $300 billion market Armstrong believes could grow tenfold by 2030, according to the report.

"We're very bullish on stablecoin payments," Armstrong was quoted as saying, noting that payment volume "can be a very interesting business" for the company.

Coinbase did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
