JGB Futures Edge Lower, Tracking Declines in U.S. Treasury Market

0009 GMT - JGB futures edge lower in early Tokyo trade, tracking overnight price declines in U.S. Treasury market. JGBs and Treasurys tend to move in tandem. JGB prices may also be weighed by ongoing rise in oil prices that typically leads to higher inflation in Japan and could spur swifter pace of BOJ rate hikes. "Our Japan economists expect the BoJ to deliver rate hikes in September and December 2026 and in March and July 2027, taking the policy rate to 2% by mid-2027," two strategists at BofA Securities Japan say in a research report. Benchmark 10-year JGB futures are 0.01 yen lower at Y126.32.
