Shares of Wealthfront jumped after the digital financial platform reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results as its platform surpassed $100 billion in assets.
The stock climbed 14%, to $10.82, midday Thursday but is down 21% for the year.
Late Wednesday, the Palo Alto, Calif., company reported a 1% growth in revenue, to $91.9 million, topping forecasts of $91.5 million.
Net income fell to $17.8 million from $34.7 million, which on a per-share basis was a decline to 10 cents from 24 cents, which was largely due to a stock-based compensation expense of $16.4 million.
Analysts expected a greater decline to 8 cents, according to FactSet.
Chief Executive David Fortunato said the company's total platform assets surpassed $100 billion as of the end of August, which has doubled in less than three years.
