Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI is focusing on specialized industries, such as chip design and life sciences, amid growing competition with rival companies and open-source models, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar.
OpenAI is also evaluating results-based pricing instead of usage as its enterprise growth accelerates, according to the report. Friar said the company's enterprise revenue rose 32% from June to July, with enterprise and consumer businesses nearing a 50/50 split around mid-year, Reuters said.
OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for a comment.
