Evotec Initiates Phase 1 Trial of Potential Smallpox, Mpox Treatment

Evotec (EVO) has initiated a phase 1 clinical trial evaluating JST-018, a cocktail of investigational monoclonal antibodies targeting orthopoxviruses, the company said Wednesday.
The medicine was developed by Evotecs subsidiary Just under the US Department of Defense's Accelerated Antibodies Program, the company said.
The treatment was manufactured at the company's facility in Redmond, Washington, the company said.
Orthopoxviruses include the variola virus behind smallpox, as well as the virus responsible for mpox.
